SOLV-1679
- While water based inks can be reduced with small amounts of water, the Reducer/Retarder SOLV-1679 gives better control. Generally water-based inks are very creamy and ready-to-use. If reduction is necessary you can add a small amount of SOLV-1679. Do not add more than 5-10% of SOLV-1679.Since water-based inks are prone to drying in the screen, a retarder is necessary to slow the drying process if necessary. This is especially helpful on hot days or where there is air-flow (from fans) blowing across the screen. Water-based inks tend to dry much quicker and are harder to us in higher altitudes.
SOLV-1679 can be added in small quantities of no more than 5-10% to retard the drying process. If you do not have SOLV-1679 and are having a serious drying problem, small amounts of glycerin or anti-freeze (propylene glycol type) can be used.
ATEX-9090/UNDY-9090
- Extender base is the base of the ink with no pigment. It can be added to an ink to increase the volume of the ink or to make the ink more transparent. It's general purpose is to bring down the cost of the ink. This is accomplished by adding Extender Base to inks that are really stronger than necessary for the job being printed. An example of this is printing scarlet red on a white shirt. An equal part of Extender Base could be added to the scarlet without significantly diminishing the color intensity on the final print!Extender Base can be added in any quantity. It will make inks more pastel on light garments and much less opaque on dark garments.
ATEX-9090 AND UNDY-9090 are not the same product. For information on how to make your own UNDY-9090 Extender Base (large quantities) consult the factory.
Some water-based inks require the use of special catalysts to enhance the washability of the print, or to allow for a full cure if no dryer is available. Consult specific ink pages in this web site for more information.
UNDY-9240 LO CROCK
- Lo Crock UNDY-9240 can be added to UNDY ink to improve the crock (rub-off) resistance. Only small amounts of 2-5% should be added, and only if necessary. It should be avoided if possible because it will make the print stiffer.ATEX-9400
- Although water should be used to wash-up screens, ATEX-9400 can be blotted on where ink is starting to dry in the screen. Follow this with a water rinse.
