AEROTEX is a Water-based Textile Ink which, when Catalyst ATEX-9120 is added, will air-cure at room temperature to obtain optimum wash resistance 24 hours after printing. AEROTEX Inks are formulated for printing on cotton, cotton/synthetic blends and many synthetic fabrics. They are not recommended for Nylon or fabrics which are treated with water-repellent coatings. AEROTEX Inks have no flash point and are made from Lead-Free raw materials.
AEROTEX Inks have good opacity and may be printed on medium-colored grounds. ATEX-1000 White may be printed as a separate color or may be added to AEROTEX Colors for increased opacity and overlays. ATEX-1020 Super Opaque White will cover dark grounds and, when air-cured at room temperature, will diminish bleeding effects from synthetic blend garments. ATEX-1020 Super Opaque White has less stretchability than other ATEX Colors and is therefore not recommended for printing on T-Shirts or other garments that have stretch.
Catalyzed prints will set sufficiently for light stacking within minutes after printing. They will then continue to cure at room temperature. Wash tests should not be carried out until 24 hours after printing. To speed up operations prints may be conveyor-dried at approximately 250F (120C) for 2 minutes.
AEROTEX Inks are supplied with the correct amount of Catalyst for quart and gallon containers. Union Ink considers it essential that Catalyst be added to obtain wash fastness, regardless of whether the prints are air dried or conveyor dried. The ink/catalyst mixture has a normal shelf life of 48 hours. DO NOT USE THE MIXTURE AFTER THAT PERIOD. Under certain conditions the mixture may show signs of deterioration before 48 hours, in which case it should be discarded. See caution on reverse.
AEROTEX Inks are supplied Ready-For-Use. If necessary up to 10% SOLV-1679 or 2-5% ATEX-9600 Stay Open can be added to postpone screen clogging. ATEX-9090 Extender Base may be used for extending colors. Addition of these additives will diminish opacity.
Monofilament polyester meshes ranging from 110T to 140T (43-55 metric) are recommended.
Water-Resistant Photographic Emulsions such as INMARCOL-W should be used. Water-resistant Capillary Systems and Knife-cut lacquer films are also suitable.
Water is used for cleaning screen immediately after printing. Detergent ATEX-9400, or a commercial detergent containing at least five percent ammonia is recommended where ink may have dried hard in the screen. Follow by rinsing with lukewarm water.
