Suede Plastisol

Print a Suede Finish in Nine Colors

FEATURES

APPLICATIONS

Series: PLSE

General Information

Union Ink's Suede Plastisol Ink combines an extremely matte finish with a fuzzy texture and a slight puff. The resulting print is almost indistinguishable from suede leather in texture and appearance. Suede Plastisol can also be used to simulate sand or s tone and other unusual and subtle special effects.

Opacity

Suede Plastisol ink has good opacity.

Mesh

Print through a 110 thread/inch mesh (43 thread/cm).

Stencils

Direct Emulsion stencils such as Union Ink's Inmarcol-R, Inmarcol-W, or Unicol-2000 are recommended.

Additives

Suede Plastisol inks are supplied ready to print. Since plastisol inks "body up" as they sit in the container you should always stir the ink well to determine the actual printing viscosity before adding any reducer. Reducing the ink usually redu ces the opacity. Never add mineral spirits to any plastisol ink.

Printing Instructions

Print with a smooth stroke for an even suede look and feel. Avoid printing over a cured underbase or printing with the print-flash-print technique. You will get best results when printing Suede Plastisol last. Multiple colors of Suede can be printed wet-o n-wet. Always test new designs before production to determine the best printing procedures.

Curing Instructions

Suede Plastisol inks will not air dry. They must be heat cured. These inks will fully cure and withstand repeated washings when the entire ink deposit reaches 310°F (154°C). Curing can be accomplished with the use of a conveyer dryer, flash curing unit, o r simple infrared heater. Proper curing is extremely important. Poor washability of the print can generally be traced back to under-curing!

Wash-Up

Clean the screens and squeegees with mineral spirits or any screen wash designed for plastisol inks.

Washability

Excellent. Do not dry clean. Do not iron printed areas.

Storage

Store plastisols at room temperature. Prolonged exposure to high temperature can make the ink start to gel.

Technical Tips

To obtain other colors of Suede Plastisol, add 5-12% of any of Union Ink's Plastisol Toners (TOPL) to Suede Base (PLSE-9090). Adding more than 12% may result in an ink that will not cure properly. Suede Base is only intended to be used with Plastisol tone rs. It is not designed to be added to finished inks.

Related Products Available from Union Ink

Union Ink sells Plastisol Toners (TOPL) that can be used to color clear bases and adjust or intensify already pigmented plastisol inks. Union Ink also sells Plastipuff ready-to-print puff plastisol in 11 colors as well as PlastiPuff Additive (PLPF-9111) and SuperPuff Additive (PUFS-9111) to convert most plastisol inks to puff inks.

Caution: Always test this product for curing, adhesion, crocking, opacity, washability and other specific requirements before using in production.
