GLITTER PLASTISOL

Transfer and Direct Print Glitter Plastisol

APPLICATION

FEATURES

SPECIFICATIONS: PAGL

GENERAL INFORMATION:

High deposit lead-free plastisol GLITTER inks with excellent opacity. These inks will heat cure to a glittering textured metallic finish when printed directly on textiles and take on the finish of release papers when used for heat transfer printing.

REGULAR GLITTER PLASTISOL:

Union Ink Glitter Plastisols are available in two formulations. Regular Glitter Plastisol Series PAGL-J are supplied in Silver, two Golds, and several colors. They are recommended when printing directly on fabrics where they give just as brilliant results as when using the more expensive Super Glitters. They are suitable for transfer printing, but yield less brilliant results than Super Glitters.

SUPER GLITTER PLASTISOL:

Super Glitter Plastisols Series PAGL-S are for heat transfer and direct printing. These inks contain more expensive polyester glitter particles and produce more brilliant transfers. They are available in Silver and Palegold.

OPACITY:

Excellent: may be printed on black or dark colored grounds.

FLEXIBILITY:

Extremely flexible: Will stretch and recover well.

CURING:

Plastisol inks WILL NOT AIR DRY. They must be heat cured. These inks will fully cure and withstand repeated washings when the entire ink deposit reaches 300°F (149°C). Curing can be accomplished with the use of a conveyer dryer, flash curing unit, or simple infrared heater.

CURING OF HEAT TRANSFERS:

Prints on heat transfer paper should only be semi-cured. Over-cure may cause problems later on during transfer (more energy is needed to remelt a cured film than a semi-cured film). Semi-curing or drying the film only to the extent that the sheets can be handled, stacked, cut and shipped is the desired condition. Gelling for 60-90 seconds at 250°F (149°C) is suggested as a starting point, but shorter periods at higher temperatures may be used.

Important Note on Curing:

Proper curing is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Poor washability of the print can generally be traced back to improper curing! It is important to understand how to set your dryer and check the temperature you are achieving AT THE INK FILM. FOR MORE SPECIFIC INFORMATION ON PLASTISOL INKS AND CURING AND DRYING TECHNIQUES REFER TO UNION INK'S PLASTISOL GENERAL INFORMATION SHEET.

HEAT TRANSFER PAPER:

For maximum sparkle, a high gloss transfer paper, like Warren O Duplex is required. Transfers printed on matte finished paper such as Trans-French T-75 and Trans-Lith, can be refurnished after application by placing a sheet of high gloss paper, Mylar film, or even foil over the print and reheating at 350°F. for 15-20 seconds on the transfer machine.

REDUCERS:

These inks are supplied Ready-for-Use. PLUS-9000 Reducer/Detackifier may be added if a thinner consistency is required. Always stir well to break down false body and determine actual working viscosity prior to adding reducer.

SCREEN FABRICS:

For direct printing use 20-25T (8-10T metric) monofilament. For transfer printing 25-33T (10-12T metric) monofilament is recommended.

WASH-UP:

Mineral Spirits or BIODEGRADABLE wash-9900.

WASHABILITY:

Excellent. Do not dry clean. Imprinted parts of garment should not be ironed.

CAUTION:

Always pre-test for adhesion, washability and other specific requirements.
