General Information: Bright Cotton White’s (PADM-1027) easy printing
formula makes it a natural choice for all textile printing applications where a
low-bleed white is not necessary.
Designs printed with Bright Cotton White will have a purer white appearance
as well as exhibiting a smooth surface. Bright Cotton White’s fast flashing and
no after flash tack characteristics make it perfect for underbasing on dark
garments. Bright Cotton White is not
recommended for 50/50 fabrics where bleeding may be a problem; for such fabrics
we recommend low-bleed white inks such as PLHT-1055 Lightning White or
PLHT-1070 Diamond White.
Opacity: PADM-1027 is highly opaque.
Mesh: For best results follow the recommended guidelines for your particular application using mesh stretched to manufacturer’s tensioning recommendations.
Underbasing--125-255 (64-100 metric) monofilament polyester. Finer meshes for the underbase application will produce softer feeling prints.
Direct printing without underbase—86-230 (43-92 metric) monofilament polyester.
Highlight White—160-305 (64-120 metric) monofilament polyester produces excellent results.
Stencils: Any stencil system compatible with plastisol inks.
Additives: Bright Cotton White PADM-1027 is supplied ready to
print. Since plastisol inks “body up” as they sit in the container, you should
always stir the ink well to determine the actual printing viscosity before
adding any reducer. If necessary reduce with small amounts of Re-
ducer/Detackifier (PLUS-9000). Do not add mineral spirits. Reducing the ink usually reduces the opacity.
Printing Instructions: Bright Cotton White is suitable to be printed on both
manual and automatic presses using normal printing techniques. For increased ink deposits multiple strokes
may be necessary on manual presses. A
soft pad on the printing pallet and minimal squeegee pressure will minimize
penetration into the garment and enhance the final print.
Curing Instructions: Plastisol inks will not air dry and must be heat
cured. PADM-1027 will start to gel at approximately 240°F and temperatures,
dwell time and distance of flash cure unit from print should be regulated so
the underbase print is only surface dry to the touch. This ink will fully cure and withstand
repeated washings when the entire ink deposit reaches 300°F (149°C). If Bright
Cotton White ink is printed through coarser meshes, the resulting heavier ink
deposits may require longer oven time or possibly higher temperatures. Proper curing is extremely important. Poor
washability of the print can generally be traced back to undercuring.
