Approximations of the (medium) 2% level of the following shades on the Pavonine color chart can be produced by mixing 66.66% Strong color with 33.34% PavoStretch Opaque White (PPPO-1000):

Buttercup Yellow (PPPC-S10), Sunflower Yellow (PPPC-S12), Harvest Gold (PPPC-S14B), Orange (PPPC-S18), Warm Red (PPPC-S20C),

Matching Rhodamine (PPPC-S27B), Purple (PPPC-S30D), Matching Violet (PPPC-S295), Sky Blue (PPPC-S36A), Blueberry (PPPC-S34),

Chestnut Brown (PPPC-S54).

Pastel shades approximating the (pastel) 0.2% level on the Pavonine color chart (except for Walnut Brown) can be produced by mixing 1% pigment with PavoStretch Opaque White (PPPO-1000) or mixing 10% strong colors with 90% PavoStretch White (PPPO-1000).

SPECIAL EFFECT ADHESIVE: A PavoStretch print containing 3% FIX C can be dusted while wet with glitter to produce a "diamond dust or stardust" effect on almost any fabric including LycraŽ and even water repellent nylon. A wet PavoStretch print containing 3% FIX C and 1% FIX RF can be dusted with glass beads (BRF) to produce exceedingly bright reflective prints on water repellent nylon. Tubitrans flock transfer paper can be transferred onto a wet PavoStretch print containing 2% FIX C by laying the paper (fuzzy side down) on a wet print and applying for 10 to 15 seconds at 350°F. (See the PavoStretch Booklet for more ideas)

ADHESION PROMOTERS:

PAVAFIX C FOR LOW OR HIGH TEMPERATURE CURE: 2% to 4 % FIX C will improve adhesion and internal film strength of PavoStretch Opaque prints when it is not possible to properly set the prints by heat alone. Pot life of an ink containing 2 % FIX C is about 4 hours at room temperature and that of an ink containing 4% is only a couple of hours. Adhesion of prints containing FIX C, dried through shorter ovens or air dried, will continue to improve for 24 hours. Given adequate time and temperature to hot cure, adhesion can be checked at the end of the oven. Mix only what can be used within pot life and do not store inks containing FIX C. If inks containing FIX C are allowed to dry in the image area they will be difficult, if not impossible, to remove. CUSTOMER TESTING REQUIRED!

PAVAFIX A FOR LOW TEMPERATURE OR AIR CURE: When proper oven is not available or when printing on temperature sensitive materials, addition of 1.5% Pavafix A should insure washability of air dry prints on most absorbent fabrics. Use FIX C for LycraŽ or water repellent nylon. CUSTOMER TESTING REQUIRED!

PAVAFIX H FOR HOT CURE ON NON STRETCHY FABRICS : 2% to 8 % FIX H will improve adhesion and internal film strength of PavoStretch Opaque prints dried for a minimum of 90 seconds at a minimum of 330°F (165°C). This is the preferred method of improving adhesion on nylon jackets and other non stretchy materials because it can be checked at the end of the oven with no waiting but FIX H should not be used when printing stretchy fabrics because it reduces elasticity. Mix only what can be used in one day and do not store inks containing FIX H.

OPEN TIME: PavoStretch Opaque has a high solids content and thus is more apt to dry in the screen than regular transparent inks such as the PavoClear series but the following rules should prevent problems:

1. Keep enough ink in screen to allow a 1/8 inch (3 mm) flood between impressions.

2. Avoid work stoppages if possible.

3. Flood heavily and gloss ink with a mist of water prior to stoppages of up to a few minutes.

4. Put ink at bottom of screen, mist with water and clean image area prior to work stoppages of a few minutes to 1/2 hour.

5. Remove ink, place in sealed container and clean screens in place with a damp sponge and or Windex type glass cleaner with ammonia prior to stoppages longer than 1/2 hr.

REDUCTION: Reduce with water. Occasional reduction may be required during long runs to compensate for evaporation. Addition of 1 to 1.5% PAVASSIST SMOOTH will lower viscosity without effecting color brightness.

PRINTING RECOMMENDATIONS: Minimum squeegee pressure and off contact recommended. Plastisol oriented printers will have to learn to back off squeegee pressure but once they do, they might not want to go back to printing plastisols. See "Open time" above for tips on preventing drying in the screen. PavoStretch does not have to embed individual threads and weld them together to be permanent. The fact that there is airspace between threads when the fabric is stretched means that it will breath, not that the ink is not cured as would be the case with plastisol. A properly dried or cross-linked PavoStretch print should stretch and retract without damage for the life of the garment it is printed on.

DRYING: A minimum of 90 seconds at 330°F (165°C). or more in a well vented oven is required to set PavoStretch Opaque based inks printed through meshes in the 86 to 156 (33 to 60 / cm) range.

Printers lacking adequate ovens, or even with no oven at all can still use PavoStretch Opaque inks by adding 2 % FIX C. See recommendations for using FIX C under "ADHESION PROMOTERS " above.

WASH UP: Water or water with an all purpose cleaner with ammonia . Windex type window cleaner with ammonia will help remove dried ink. ICC Screen Clarifier is recommended for removing stains in the screen. Follow with clear water wash. Do not allow inks containing FIX C or FIX A to completely dry in the screen! Once dry a chemical cross-linked film will be difficult if not impossible to remove.

SHELF LIFE: Up to two years is kept in a tightly sealed container and in a cool, dry place.
