PRODUCT NAME: PAVOSTRETCH WHITE CODE: PPPS-1020
FOR USE ON: A ready for use (unless catalyst is required) white for use on stretchy fabrics such as LycraŽ, when maximum durability is required, or on difficult to adhere to fabrics such as water repellent nylon.
HAZARDOUS MATERIAL INFORMATION:
Manufactured using the safest possible ingredients and represents no health hazard in normal use. Container should read:
HEALTH - 1; FLAMMABILITY - 0; REACTIVITY - 0; PERSONAL PROTECTION - B
STENCIL : Water resistant.
MESH: 77 - 156 monofilament polyester as required for best coverage.
PIGMENTING: Pastel shades similar to the 0.2% level on the Pavonine color chart may be created by adding standard pigments to PAVOSTRETCH WHITE (PPPS-1020)
REDUCTION: Will effect opacity so reduce as little as possible. Addition of 1 - 1.5% PAVASSIST SMOOTH will lower viscosity without drastically effecting color brightness.
EXTENDING: Cutting with PAVOSTRETCH CLEAR (PPPS) will improve elasticity and adhesion but reduce opacity.
CATALYSTS:
HOT CURE CATALYST: Addition of PAVAFIX H, given adequate drying, (see DRYING) will improve adhesion and washability but reduce elasticity. Catalyst is not normally required when printing on LycraŽ but as little as 1% will improve adhesion, scuff resistance and possibly allow lower oven temperature with minimal effect on elasticity. Up to8% is recommended when printing on water repellent nylon. Mix only what will be used within 12 hrs. FIX A or FIX C can be used (see COLD CATALYSTS below) when adequate oven is not available. If dryer can getprints dry enough to stack the fixes will do the rest. FIX C is recommended instead of FIX H forprinting LycraŽ as it doesn't effect elasticity. CUSTOMER TESTING REQUIRED!
COLD CURE CATALYST: Hot curing is recommended whenever possible but when proper oven is not available or when printing on temperature sensitive materials, addition of 1.5% Pavafix A should insure washability of air dry prints knit cotton & cotton blend fabrics. 2 to 3% PAVAFIX C is recommended for best adhesion to most water repellant fabrics and when used as the adhe-sive for glitters, SPARKLETONE flakes, or reflective beads sprinkled over wet prints. Reflec-tive beads require addition of 1% PAVAFIX RF as well to achieve proper adhesion. Allow 48 hours at room temperature prior to testing. Mix only what will be used in a few hrs.

PRINTING: Surface deposit is required for maximum opacity so tightly stretched screens adjusted to minimum off contact is recommended when printing on absorbent substrates. Trapping of colors can cause printing and adhesion problems so butt registration is preferred.
FLASHING OR PRESS PRESSING: Can be flashed like a plastisol in 10 to 15 seconds once pallets are warmed up if printed through 110 meshes or finer. Can be set by direct contact with a hot platen in about 5 seconds.
KEEPING SCREENS OPEN WHEN PRINTING BY HAND : Keep enough ink in the screen to allow a 1/8th inch flood over entire image area. Flood heavily with an image hiding flood after each impression. Without heavy flooding layer upon layer of ink will dry around the mesh and slowly close in the openings. Keep a gloss of water on the ink in the screen by misting with a inexpensive trigger spray bottle available from K-Mart or Wal-Mart.. Flood and mist the ink in the screen heavily prior to brief work stoppages of up to 10 minutes. In very dry areas it may be necessary to lightly mist the underside of the image area as well. A mixture of about 1 part retarder or glycerine to 2 parts water is preferred for misting by printers in dry areas. If occasional misting is not possible it is best to push all ink to the bottom of the screen, gloss it heavily and clean image area with a wet sponge prior to stoppages of up to 30 minutes and to remove ink and wipe down entire screen with a wet sponge prior to longer stoppages.
Keeping screens open on automatics : Once an automatic is running drying of ink on the mesh layer by layer during printing is seldom a problem, but presses that can be adjusted so that image area is flooded between impressions are preferred. Misting of ink in the screen and handling during stoppages as described under KEEPING SCREENS OPEN WHEN PRINTING BY HAND above applies to automatics but corrosion resistant power sprayers may be required.
SPECIAL EFFECT ADHESIVE: A wet Pavostretch print containing 3% FIX C can be dusted while wet with glitter to produce a "diamond dust or stardust" effect on almost any fabric including LycraŽ and even water repellent nylon. A wet Pavostretch print containing 3% FIX C and 1% FIX RF can be dusted with glass beads (BRF) to produce exceedingly bright reflective prints on water repellent nylon. Tubitrans flock transfer paper can be transferred onto a wet Pavostretch print containing 2% FIX C by laying the paper (fuzzy side down) on a wet print and applying for 10 to 15 seconds at 350°F.
DRYING : 90 seconds or more at 330°F+ in an oven with good airflow is required for proper cure. Addition of PAVAFIX H will improve adhesion, scuff resistance and washability and possibly allow slightly lower oven temperature but reduce elasticity. CUSTOMER TESTING REQUIRED!
SHELF LIFE: Up to two years if kept in a tightly sealed container & in a cool dry place.
WASH UP: Water or water + all propose cleaner with ammonia should be all that is required if clean up is done immediately at the end of a run. Follow with clear water wash. Window cleaner with ammonia or similar product will help remove stains and dried in ink. DO NOT ALLOW INKS CONTAINING PAVAFIX A OR PAVAFIX C TO COMPLETELY DRY IN THE SCREEN! Once dry a chemical cross linked film can be difficult or impossible to remove.
CUSTOMER TESTING REQUIRED!
