MIXING INSTRUCTIONS: Contains enough binders to set and make washable PAVONINE pigment concentration of up to 18%. See INTRODUCTORY TO PAVONINE INKS & SYSTEMS booklet and or data sheet M 1 for color mixing and matching recommendations. For softest print on towels reduce with water until the base flows off spatula like honey which may require up to 33% water ( 1 part water to 2 parts PAVOCLEAR B ) and then color with less than 4% standard pigment. Addition of up to 3% PAVASSIST LO CROCK/SOFT (LCS) will soften hand with or without reduction with water.
Stencils: Water resistant dried in a cabinet if humidity is over 40%. Avoid under exposure.
Mesh: 110-230 for printing on garments. Courser screens may be required for printing on towels and carpets. Deposit effects color intensity. PAVONINE color charts are printed through 110 monofiliment mesh.
Reduction: Reduce with water. Substantial reduction of up to 33% ( 1 part water to 2 parts PAVOCLEAR B) may be required when printing on towels.
Wash up: Water or water with a little all purpose cleaner should suffice. Glass cleaner with ammonia or similar product is effective in removing stains and dried ink.
Open time: No drying in screen during continuous printing. Always flood between impressions with a heavy image hiding layer (1/16th " or more) when printing by hand and if possible when printing on an automatic. Keep a gloss on the ink with a mist of water. An occasional very light mist on the bottom of the image area is also beneficial as well but excess can cause contamination of the back of the screen resulting in misprints. Flood screen prior to brief stoppage of several minutes or less. Cover with damp rag or sheet of pellon prior to stoppage of up to 1 hour. Remove ink from screen and wipe screen clean with damp sponge prior to stoppage of 1 hour+. See INTRODUCTION TO PAVONINE INKS & SYSTEMS booklet for additional information concerning keeping screens open.
Retarder: Up to 6% PAVASSIST SLOW can be added to keep screen open without effecting washability in extremely dry, hot, breezy conditions.
Drying and Setting: 1½ minutes+ in a dryer with good airflow at 320°F+ should dry and set inks. Higher temperatures for shorter times are possible. 1 to 2 % PAVAFIX H will improve washfastness and adhesion of prints dried through proper ovens but stiffen hand. As little as 0.5% PAVAFIX A should insure washability through inadequate dryer.
If no dryer is available, addition of 1½% PAVAFIX A should make air dried prints washable.
ALWAYS WASH TEST GARMENTS TO MAKE SURE INKS ARE SUITABLE FOR A GIVEN SUBSTRATE AND PROPERLY SET OR CROSS-LINKED.
Shelf Life: 2 years if kept tightly closed and in a cool area.
