Mixing Colors: PAVOPEARL is semi-opaque which means that a hint of garment color shows and must be used to advantage or accounted for.
Un-pigmented base printed on a red fabric will produce a mother-of-pearl look with a pink tint. A trace of black pigment (approximately ½%) will shift the color to appear silver.
Un-pigmented base printed on a black or navy fabric will appear silver without added black pigment because of the hint of garment color that shows through.
Standard pigments mixed in at a 6% level will give a color value approaching the 2% level on the PAVONINE Color Chart but with a metallic look. The best way to describe the look is to compare it with the metallic finish on a new car.
Printing: Meshes in the 86 to 156 range are recommended.
Prints easily wet-on-wet, but is easily forced into the garment by subsequent screen. For best results print colors with good hiding power first and print additional colors with minimum squeegee pressure through very tightly stretched screens adjusted to be slightly off contact. A soft base on the pallet also helps keep ink from being driven in by subsequent impressions. Must be printed last or flashed prior to printing subsequent colors to maintain brightness. Avoid fine lines (less than 1/16" wide) as they tend to clog.
Drying: Requires a minimum of 90 seconds in a drier with good air flow at 320°F or more to insure washability. Addition of 0.5% to 1.5% PAVAFIX A will improve washability if adequate drier is not available. CUSTOMER TESTING REQUIRED! SCUFF RESISTANCE is not necessarily an indication of proper cure as prints that wash and wear very well can be scuffed with a fingernail. Plastisol tests do not apply to water based inks. WASH TESTING IS RECOMMENDED.
Wash Up: Water or water + all purpose cleaner with ammonia should be all that is required if clean up is done immediately at the end of a run. Glass cleaner with ammonia or similar product will help remove stains and dried in ink. Do not allow inks containing Pavafix A to completely dry in the screen! Once dry, a chemical cross linked film will be difficult if not impossible to remove.
Shelf Life: 2 years if kept tightly closed and in a cool area.
CUSTOMER TESTING REQUIRED!
